Washington Wednesday: Martin’s Tavern

Last weekend Hunter came in town to visit, and it was quite the weekend! I made the poor chach walk everywhere and needless today, he was less than thrilled. One of my favorite parts of D.C. is Georgetown, shocking I know, so naturally I introduced to Preppy-ville. Aaannnnddd he loved it, just like I knew he would.

If y’all ever come to D.C. here is the place you have to grub:

Martin’s was Hunter and my favorite experience of the weekend. It is the quintessential Georgetown restaurant. It reminded us of MacLaren’s, the hangout on How I Met Your Mother (our favorite show).

This terrific tavern is one of D.C.’s  oldest establishments, and has served every President for the past 75 years, except for our current President who has yet to attend. I have tons of advice I would love to give President Obama, but I think I would open with “Mr. President, let me help you help me by taking me to dinner at Martin’s, and chatting about your current administration.”

I know your thinking “is that really what she would say to our president?” And yes, as a matter of fact I most definitely would. Everyone knows I am a much more pleasant person once I am fed, and Martin’s is just the place to do it!
It’s just so wonderful.  Doesn’t it look like it popped right out of The Preppy Handbook? Hunty and I are now on a serious mission to find a duplicate in Houston for after college. Does anyone know of a great little place like this?

Requirements:
1.  Awesome Atmosphere
2. Within walking distance from all of our homes
3. Great food
4. Wonderful Adult Beverages
5. Our own booth (ya know, because we’ll be regulars)
6. Great food

Houstonians, let me in on the goods if you know of a place! I think Hunter is going to base his first big boy home location on the distance from the replica Martin’s. Have y’all ever been to Martin’s? What did you get? Who did you see? Did you think it was as amazing as we did? Where is your regular hangout? Give me the deets, I want to know!
