I’m ALIVE and I have my OWN room!

There are really no excuses for why I haven’t blogged in years other than the fact that school started, but I am not going to go on and on about my lack of time and stress. I have way more important things to share than my to-do list. It is senior year of college and I FINALLY have my own room, and I couldn’t be more excited about the whole situation.

I decided an all white bed was definitely necessary so I went with the stitched satin from the previous post. More polished. More me.  It’s like sleeping on a cloud if you will.

I am obsessed with large monograms on pillows. I went with white so I wasn’t tied down to a specific color. Commitment issues with color has been a problem for me lately.

I pounced on these puppies at Home Goods. I will admit I was a lurker, another lovely chach was debating about them, and when she set them down… I snatched ’em up! Sorry lady, discount stores aren’t for kids.

I am obsessed with the current mirrored trend and I’m not subtle about it. My nightstand is evidence.
I think this is my favorite corner of my room.
A thrift store find! Mom, helps with all my interior design executions. I give her my vision and she makes it happen. It’s my, check email, read, and relax chair.
Now….
“Say, hello to my LITTLE friend!”
He is my first kill and I am so proud of myself. I killed that, ate him, and I am using him to decorate. I am not a wasteful hunter by any means. I never thought I would decorate with taxidermy, but alas Hunter turned me into a REAL Texas woman.
The scene of the crime.
I feel like I’m being whispered about in the beauty salon with women like M’Lynn and Shelby explaining, “Where she comes from you either shoot it, stuff it or marry it.” “She’s just outdoorsy is all.”
Mom and I also found these mirrors at a local thrift store and redid them to create this collage.

The furniture came with our brand spankin’ new apartment which was quite helpful, but not quite my design style. I felt an explanation was necessary for this less fabulous desk, but I just followed Tim Gunn’s advice “make it work.” SO I did.

This is where the magic happens, people. And by magic I mean endless hours of homework.
My inspiration board is a work in progress at the current moment.
Deliciously Organized posted this fantastic way to store and display your makeup brushes a while back…
I LOVED IT. I used their incredible idea in my powder room and it’s fabulous.
Functionality and Organization. Yes, please.
So what do y’all think of my big girl boudoir? Have I done you proud? Let me know what you think! And how you’ve been!
PS My “little friend” needs a name. He is a Black Buck, so preferably something with a B. I’m all about the alliteration if you haven’t picked up on it yet.

I'll take credit for " inspiring you " back into blogging! Or was it "guilting you?! But the room is all YOU!! I love the white — using it myself, along with the mirrored nightstand!! And I have to copy the make up brushes — so sensible! I love the simple lines, even of the freebie furniture…you have really made it work!! Any desire for curtains?? I would love a project… If so, send pictures of what you like.
As for the black buck — I love the Eco angle on convincing the opposition that you didn't hunt for pleasure!! But truthfully, didn't you mostly do it just to see if you could?? Glad you're on my team!! We'll win every time or die trying!! (is there an icon for a high five bc it would work here?!)
David suggests " Count Blackula" for your little friend…..

I would like to cast a vote for "Count Blackula" – dang, wish I'd been more creative!

Also, I am intrigued by the box with the colored things on it on your desk – it looks like something organizational that I could really appreciate 🙂 Share your secrets?
