Washington Wednesday: Week 1

Hello my patriotic people! Its been a long time since we’ve chatted, and I’m thrilled to bring you an update from our Nation’s Capitol! Life is definitely different here than down South, but great just the same. The hustle and bustle of the historic town is a definite distraction from blogging, but I am going to attempt to bring you along in my big girl adventure. Here’s the rundown, I started work last week on the Hill. I have to say wearing professional attire is quite a fun change! The sightseeing is incredible! Take a looksey at my favorite things in DC so far…

1. The Capitol
This is not my actual office, but I do frequent this joint on a day-to-day basis. It was one of the first things I saw upon arriving! Just like this, no joke. The sun was setting, the capitol was gleaming, I was crying. I teared up, and I’m not ashamed. I’m patriotic. American.
2. The White House
I know, The Capitol and now The White House are my top two favorites… so cliche of me. I don’t care who you are, being able to go on a run past the White House on the reg is fan-freakin-tastic, whether you like who is in the house or not.

It is just so southern and beautiful. I want to live there… okay, maybe not there, but I want a replica with a rose garden and everything. Unrealistic expectations for my future home? I think not.

3. The Navy Choir Concert

I think it was my 2nd or 3rd night in DC when I stumbled on the Navy choir concert. I was in complete awe of the talent, and the atmosphere. I was so proud to be an American. Be in DC. Be listening to our Navy sing Glee songs! No moment in DC has topped this one, and I think it will be quite hard to do. A moment I wouldn’t share with anyone or trade for the world.
(currently my video uploader is acting up so I can’t post the videos I took, but I will be sure to post the at a later date for a little Naval treat)
4. The Hope Diamond
Did y’all honestly think I had changed and gone completely political on you? Even if I do love politics, diamonds are still a girl’s best friend. 54 carats of perfection. All of the  Smithsonians was to die for, and I highly recommend it.
5. Georgetown
I absolutely love Georgetown. Love the food. Love the shopping. Love the town homes. Love it all. When you visit DC Georgetown is a must see. Historic and fabulous in every way.
Week one in DC was a complete success, and I can’t wait to share more goodies from my big girl adventure. Have y’all been to DC? Do ya live here? Tell me things I must see! I’m open to anything! Help the new girl out!
